Greatness. This is Great.
you gotta love well done remixes. You know when you hear a song that is really really good, simple mortal fans that we are, we can’t imagine how it can be better. Then we get blown away by an artists interpretation of the song, and it’s even better…ok maybe it’s not good to compare, but it is so nice to get a fresh new great version of a great record.
Two Door Cinema Club are a Northern Irish indie rock band, you should know by now as they are featured in so many games, movies, shows, etc…

Time to get over it
If you’re not over something or someone, it’s time to do it. Now. Not a single day more. I’m a firm believer that you have to live life forwards. If you’re still not over something, it means you’re still on it and it’s holding you back. Whatever it is: an ex, a fight, a wrong-doing, a failure - time to let it go, forget it, get your head up and just look forward. **Add other cliche quotes if you want**.
But know that this is true: anything/anyone that doesn’t belong with you anymore, is just taking space for other better things you should focus on.
We’ll let it slide for Gavin DeGraw, ‘Not Over You’ is a hit and a half. The love songwriter and singer, finally broke-through with his 4th album: Sweeter.
Gavin DeGraw - Not Over You
Bon Iver, Forever
A take away show. It will literally take you away. It is raw talent at its best.
The fact that they’re in the streets of Paris adds to the magique. Can’t help but picture myself walking around and stumbling upon them. Things like this make me want to become a bum and just live in the streets of such a Magical city.
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago - A Take Away Show
Wouldn’t mind it if this song was on repeat for some time.
Ain’t it great?
Ben Howard is an English singer-songwriter, with only 1 official album release: Every Kingdom. In this song he reminds us to always Keep [Our] Heads Up, it’s motivational and very emotional. In the opening verse it talks about obstacles in life and the feeling of giving up - reminding you then to keep your heart strong. For the second verse, almost as if it’s following a story, we hear about coming ‘home’ to the comforting and uplifting support of a friend and how this makes things feel easier. Then the song wraps up positively hoping to find happiness ‘there’ (home).
For me the song is written wonderfully, resulting in this nice moral: In the company of friends you may find happiness and the strength to Keep Your Head Up, and your heart strong, over any obstacles life may throw at you.

Who the hell are The Strokes?
That’s what you could read in some posters for their concerts. When I first got a glance of it, for some reason it struck me [*no pun intended]. I was also struck to find out that The Strokes had a new album released today. This was my favorite track off the album. Their new single, All The Time, was released on Feb 14th. Why did I just find out about this!!?!
For the past 3 weeks all music news sites talked about was Justin Timberlake, not only them actually everyone else too, you and me included. How did The Strokes miss all the buzz? It comes to show how important it is to market your music right, even for one of the biggest rock bands today. If you don’t create a buzz it won’t create itself, and it will be the defining factor for your music’s reach. For me, it’s great to see the impact that a good marketing strategy can have on an artist’s success.

U only need the light when is burning low, only miss the sun when it starts to snow
One of the best tracks of the year right here. Passenger has been around for a while now (see previous post),it started in 2003 as a British band, split in 2009 and resurfaced as a solo act by it’s lead man Mike Rosenberg. So yeah, that’s Mike’s amazing voice. But he also produced and wrote it. The three great elements that make this song: his voice, the great instrumental production, and the mind bogging lyrics. Kudos to you Mike!
There’s a lot of truth in those words, and good things to think about. All of us can identify with this song, which makes it great. I love songs that can achieve that kind of connection with its audience. Because you and I have been in/are/will be in a situation where you have to let go of something, sometimes it’s a material it, or a non-material it, or sometimes it’s a living her/him.
Passenger - Let Her Go
some people call this ‘real’ music
I call it real great music!
This is a live LA performance by John Mayer Trio (John, Steve Jordan & Dino Palladino). Performed in the style of real-talent and in the scale of awesome minor.
Have to admit I don’t know as much music like this as I would like to. I have a handful of blues/jazz/acoustic artists under my sleeve, but it’s not enough. I can listen to this all freaking day. As a matter of fact, one of my latest successes is creating a John Mayer Trio Pandora station, with a Bon Iver and Florence + variety. BEST STATION EVER.

Mumford & Sons unreleased masterpiece: HOME.
Trying to decide on a single Mumford & Sons track to post is always a difficult task. Sometimes I feel like starting a blog only about them; it would be called i <3 mumford & sons, just in case you were wondering.
Anyways, this song right here is amazing and it somehow didn’t make the album. Can’t understand why, because it’s now one of my favorites.
Mumford & Sons - Home
Just give me a reason, just a little bit’s enough
This song is magic. Very emotional, very deep. The combination of the powerful lyrics with the magical vocal-duo is what makes this song. Originally the song was meant to be just for Pink, but it was her that pursued the duo with Nate (Fun.’s lead singer).
It’s the conversation between them that makes this song so good, their back and forth in dealing with the struggles of their love. We’ve all been there too. You truly love the other person…but life’s complicated, it seems like it will break, but…”just a second we’re not broken just bent”. The mutual connection is so strong, “it’s been written in the scars on our hearts”.
P!nk ft. Nate Reuss - Just Give Me A Reason
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS WAY TOO LONG
and I’m not disappointed
Where should I begin?…. Phoenix took me over after seeing them live back in 2010. It was a short 45-min set in a medium sized venue in Boston, and it was absolutely great. Big light show, very modern, true to their image and sound - and oh yea, the sound was perfect!
And I haven’t heard a thing from them since. They fell off the grid, literally. Until this past February (2013), announcing:
“Bankrupt!” and releasing this piece. Lived up to my expectations!!
Phoenix - Entertainment
My head is an animal…not always, but most of the times.
So I identify with OMAM’s album title. Very much actually. Can’t put my finger on which animal exactly, but it’s definitely a weird one. It flies and wanders like a bird sometimes, most of the times it also rattles all over the place like a snake, and it never fails to always be a fierce ambitious tiger that will never give up.
Songs like Dirty Paws, keep me sane though. Relaxing, it simmers me down and allows me to step back from reality. The beautiful acoustics and that peaceful enchanting vocals will do the trick. Try it out, no disappointments I promise.
Of Monsters And Men - Dirty Paws
Tell me what you’re waiting for…
Youngblood Hawke (YBH) is a Los Angeles based indie pop band that’s doing some pretty cool stuff. They only really have 4 official songs released, which has given them crazy success. They’re a crazy bunch after all. Very contemporary pop music, yet it’s very unique.
Gotta be on the watch for this one!
Youngblood Hawke - We Come Running
No better way to start the week.
If you ever see/hear something that’s amazing, do you ever think about how it could be even better? More importantly, how can YOU make it even better? It’s an interesting way of seeing things, and it’s nothing short of a success recipe. If you don’t believe me, ask the genius producers and mixers over at RAC, who take any hit song and make it 10x better.

Isolation clears the mind
Antonio Paul is insanely talented. You have to check out his music, I recommend starting with ‘Made In China’ and ‘Into The Night’. He’s songwriting is TOP-NOTCH, and his voice is fire too. This piece here we’ll make ‘west coast kids are fine, west coast kids are fine’ be stuck in your head singing it all day, believe me its addicting!!
So I’m planning to move to the West Coast, see what’s all the fuzz with those kids over there. No but seriously, I plan to be able to move over there at some point. Wish me luck

From dating the late Amy Winehouse to BRIT Awards nomination
I <3 this song and make a fool of myself singing (or lip singing) it every time. Alex is most famous for his Internet Explorer Ad song: “Too Close”, both of these of his debut LP: The Lateness of The Hour (Island Records).
Yes, he briefly dated Amy Winehouse before even being famous.
